Bihar Sharif, the headquarters of Nalanda district in Bihar gets its name from the two words, Vihara, the monasteries of Buddhists and Sharif, the resting place of the Sufi Saint, Makhdoom Sharfuddin Ahmed Yahya Maneri. The famous ruins of Nalanda University is located just 15 kms away from this place. One can visit the tomb of Ibrahim Mallick Baya at Badi Pahadi in Bihar Sharif and  then proceed to see the Nalanda university and Hieun Tsang memorial at Nalanda.
