Patna university has produced noted freedom fighter like Jaiprakash Narayan, physicists and mathematicians of the like H C Verma, Tathagat Avatar Tulsi, Vashishtha Narayan Singh and politicians like Nitish Kumar, Anugrah Narayan Sinha and S N Sinha. Patna also has one of the oldest national libraries of India, the Khuda Baksh library.
